HARPER ADAMS' JEANS RAISE £300

STAFF AT Harper Adams University College, near Newport, raised more than £300 last month by ditching their dress code and jumping into their jeans.

Simply by wearing their jeans and donating £1 for the privilege, staff members at Harper Adams raised £320 for the annual Jeans for Genes campaign. Proceeds from the national initiative will help organisations such as Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity fund vital genetic research to alleviate and cure childhood genetic disorders.

In the UK alone, a child is born every 26 minutes with a genetic condition or birth defect and since its inception, the Jeans for Genes campaign has raised more than £12 million to support pioneering research projects around the country.
